DRIVE IN SERVICE
This photo is one of my bests that I took this year. this photo was taken for the Line and Shape project. I took this photo while inside of a moving car on the way to a beach. I love how perfect this photo came out even though I was taking this picture in a car. there are lines all throughout this photo and it causes the readers eyes to travel across the whole image. I took this photo because I really liked the retro look that the sign gave, putting it in black and white just emphasized the sign and the rest of the building as a whole. I also had to crop the photo, sadly, because the camera that I used to take this photo left watermarks on the images, which I did not particularly like since it was so different to the rest of the image. this photo was also taken with the window down so that the dirtiness of the window did not take away from the actual image. overall I really love this photo and feel that this is one of my best.

CORRIDOR
This photo was taken outside of the school along the side of the gymnasium. I took this photo from a mid level and made the photo break the rule of thirds to emphasis the symmetry. I found this photo really strong due to my use of symmetry and line. if you look at the photo directly in the middle it doesn't look like any part of the photo is different. I used the already symmetrical architecture and made it look more like an optical illusion. I used the black and white filter to emphasize that as well. I tried to make it look like a long pathway to something beautiful (the trees and nature in the back). This photo was taken head on with no angles in attempt to make this image as symmetrical and even as possible. I didn't do much photoshop editing for this image except for transferring it into black and white. I tried to make it look like fantasy and mysterious, like "what could be on the other side of the path?" kind of feeling. I also really liked the texture of the red/darker bricks in contrast with the off white cinderblock type bricks.

WATER
I took this photo for the shutter speed project. The photo was of water splashing inside of a fish tank, after being shot through with a turkey baster. my group and I also used a backdrop and actual studio lights for the first time with this image. the camera was on a tripod and I set the shutter speed really fast so I could capture the water jumping from when someone shot water with a turkey baster into a tank of water. I love this photo because of the type of lighting from the clamp light in a corner. I thought about editing out the jar in the corner, and I did in the original assignment, but after doing so I realized I liked how the jar was cut basically in half due to the water. I took the photo at the right time, and I really like how this one came out. I kind of wished there was a white background so that I can put food coloring into the water and make it look more clean, but overall I really liked the look of this photo.

FLOWERS
i took a photo of Bridget Mulcahy in our class with some faux pink flowers that we had in our classes community prop bucket. i took the photo at an angle and focused the image on her face and not the flowers in front of her. i really liked this photo because of my use of depth of field and the colors of her eye contrasted with the pink in the flowers. i also love how the green of the stems and leaves match up with the shape of her shirt. i took this photo in front of a white background and used natural lighting which i like to use the most. i feel natural light is very effective especially when imaging a piece about nature; for it makes it feel organic.

TARGET
i took another photo of Bridget Mulcahy in my class and this time for the painting with light project. she stood in the middle of the audotorium seats and i stood in the large isle in the middle. i used a tripod angled up and shined a light in her direction to make sure we can see her. she spun a string light in front of her body to make a target like shape. i used an extremely slow shutterspeed so that i can get as many times of her spinning the lights as possible. i really like how this photo came out, and the overall color, the blue on the seats and the yellow of the lights. the color and the blurriness kind of make the photo eerie and scary.

CIRCLE OF LIFE
I took this photo for the aperture project. i took 3 photos, one of both the lion and the butterfly in focus and two of just one of them in focus. i liked this photo in particular because while the butterfly is in focus, the lion is lurking in the background, in plain sight, but harder to see due to blurriness. I took this photo pretty close to the subject, using the white background light box and i adjusted the aperture to keep the focus primary on butterfly. this shows tension because while the lion is sneaking, the butterfly is unaware. in the picture, the first thing that pops out is the butterfly, and then the audience focus shifts to the lion.
